Easy Classroom Blogging Ep.7 Explain that thought

In the last episode we looked at how to quickly capture, store and share something you’d done on your whiteboard - for example a brainstorm.

In this episode, we’re going to use a visible thinking strategy and have the students engage with the brainstorm and document their thinking.

I normally start by projecting the brainstorm onto the whiteboard and having a quick recap. You then leave the kids with a provocation such as “What does this brainstorm mean to you?” or “What do you think are the most important elements of this brainstorm and why?” You can also add the focus question as text on the post.

Next, have the students visit the classblog, and save the brainstorm to their camera roll. Super easy to do on Easyblog.org, but you can do the same on any blog, just not as easy.

Once it’s on the camera roll, the students can open it themselves and record their responses. If you’re using Easyblog.org they can do that straight onto the app, but if you’re using another blogging app, they could use something like Explain Everything or Doodlecast first.

Easy as pie, deep, reflective learning, a great formative assessment, and all shared with mum and dad, and your whole learning community. Who could ask for more?

Don’t forget to subscribe to either our YouTube channel or our blog at support.easyblog.org and follow us on Twitter @easyblogDOTorg. If you have a great example of how to use student and class blogs please leave it in the comments section.

That’s all for today, see you next time for Easy Blogging with Mr C
